The scientific communication has passed for significant changes over time. Since the last
century highlights the emergence of new communication technologies and open access
initiatives. In this new context are presented as strategies the scientific journals and the digital
repositories. Considering the importance of the policies of scientific journals for the
development of open access, this study investigated how brazilian scientific journals have
positioned themselves in relation to open access to their articles in digital repositories. For
this, we mapped the journals that have declared their policy Diadorim - Directory of Open
Access Policies of Scientific Brazilian Journals. Subsequently, we analyzed their permissions
in relation to the deposit and access to articles in digital repositories. Finally, we explored the
relationship of the results related to permissions and knowledge areas of activity of the
journals. With this, we concluded that the majority of brazilian scientific journals registered in
Diadorim allow open access, especially those who publish in the areas of Exact and Natural
Sciences, Social and Human Sciences.
